Once Humanity Has Gone Away

Birds will sing the same old song

once humanity has gone away

cats will still eat mice and rats

and night will follow day

fireflies will come in June

and dogs will howl at the moon

with stars still twinkling in the sky

there will be no one left to cry

once humanity has gone away

rivers will flow and forests will grow

from springtime rain and winter snow

and planet earth will slowly heal

with no one left to slice and steal

and keep ignoring nature’s appeal

once humanity has gone away

About soitgoes1984

I was born and raised on land stolen from the Pocumtuc. I now live on a small island in the middle of the Pacific ocean, on land that was stolen more recently, from the Hawaiians. I am addict, struggling to kick the habit of fossil fuel. This work is licensed under a Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International License.
