In the meadow

the stars twinkle

as I stare off into space

thinking about time

and these wrinkles on my face

and how life’s pace has increased

tenfold with each passing year

and why must humanity

be consumed with hatred

and fear

and why do some words

draw out the tears

and erase ten years

with the click of a mouse

and why do I toss stones

at this hour

hoping it will crack

and the clock will turn back

and when did I lose track

of time

and I wish I had a nickel

or a dime

for the well

but i’m broke-

so oh well

I wish you well

and I’ll see you

in heaven

or in hell

or in the twinkling

of a star

About soitgoes1984

I was born and raised on land stolen from the Pocumtuc. I now live on a small island in the middle of the Pacific ocean, on land that was stolen more recently, from the Hawaiians. I am addict, struggling to kick the habit of fossil fuel. This work is licensed under a Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International License.
