I Forget The Cold

you are the sun

I only appreciate you in absence

when you’re gone, I’m left squinting to the moonlight

trying to write you ode upon ode, professing the joy I feel when you shine

the comfortable warmth I only start to recognize after the cool night air bites my skin

and you’re gone and I need a flannel and a knit cap to warm up my bones

but it’s never enough and no blanket is warm like you

but the sun rises, I forget the odes

I forget the cold

About soitgoes1984

I was born and raised on land stolen from the Pocumtuc. I now live on a small island in the middle of the Pacific ocean, on land that was stolen more recently, from the Hawaiians. I am addict, struggling to kick the habit of fossil fuel. This work is licensed under a Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International License.
