The Sun: ode to Japan

Please take a moment today to remember the hundreds of thousands of people killed by the bombing of Hiroshima on August 6th, and of Nagasaki on August 9th.

Remember that 100,000 people were killed in the firebombing of Tokyo during the war, and countless other cities saw death tolls in the tens of thousands.

Remember that your taxes pay for war and that the only people who have ever truly benefited from war are businessmen.

the sun fell from the sky

over Hiroshima

rather, we dropped it.

Slightly less time has passed

since we dropped a second sun

from the sky

over Nagasaki.

I sit here this evening

drinking tea

as the sun sets

over the Pacific.
