Solstice to Solstice

from solstice to solstice

this trip around the sun

is getting less and less

and less and less

and less and less

and less and less fun

each and every year

mother earth is suffocating,

humanity is suffocating,

and I don’t think I have the energy

for even one more tear

and I don’t think I have the energy

for even one more

trip around the sun

there’s blood on our hands

yet we ignorantly say ‘look what he’s done’

but we gave him the gun

and we help as he loots the world

and there’s nowhere to run

and our Uncle is gunning for us now

and the wars were never meant to be won

and the damage is done

and we keep on doing it

and we’ll pretend in 4 years

that we’re gluing it all back together

but nothing will change

except the person

pulling the trigger

the problem is so much bigger than you realize…

after the sun rise,

open your eyes.

About soitgoes1984

I was born and raised on land stolen from the Pocumtuc. I now live on a small island in the middle of the Pacific ocean, on land that was stolen more recently, from the Hawaiians. I am addict, struggling to kick the habit of fossil fuel. This work is licensed under a Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International License.
