Plunder

Family traditions will be broken

as young men

and young women

stop following their parents

and their grandparents

into the military.

Anti-war activists will rejoice

as recruitment numbers drop

to all-time lows.

JROTC programs will end

and children will have to walk

through the metal detectors

of their schools

in civilian clothes.

The people will rejoice

as the wars come to a close

and our men and women in uniform

come home to victory parades

but from our nine-to-five

from our merger wage,

the mercenaries

will be

paid.

About soitgoes1984

I was born and raised on land stolen from the Pocumtuc. I now live on a small island in the middle of the Pacific ocean, on land that was stolen more recently, from the Hawaiians. I am addict, struggling to kick the habit of fossil fuel.
