Share bread

because we’re hungry

and you only give us

shallow words

that we choke on

and collateral damage

from a chalice

and we’re starving

while you lounge in palaces

built with teardrops

and treaties,

slave ships

and greedy missionaries

now you gouge out our eyes

with silver spoons,

using Cutco knives

to chop off our fingers

and toes,

feet and hands

then arm by arm

and leg by leg

you leave us bleeding

and begging for mercy

no need for food

or water

you’ve killed our sons

and our daughters already

and now you’re ready,

got the grill fired up

its Independence Day

and you stab the proper fork

into our heart

and pull it out,

take a big bite

then scream and shout

but none of this will happen

if you share bnb.

Share bread not bombs

share bread not bullets

share bread not bigotry.

Share bnb

and start to see

Share bnb

because until you do

you can never be

Share bnb and our hunger will end

and we’ll share bnb

if you ever need

a friend.

About soitgoes1984

I was born and raised on land stolen from the Pocumtuc. I now live on a small island in the middle of the Pacific ocean, on land that was stolen more recently, from the Hawaiians. I am addict, struggling to kick the habit of fossil fuel. This work is licensed under a Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International License.
