Inauguration Day

So, today

the world will

not end

bombs will still fall

on innocent people

in villages

far

far away

but, with their dying

breath

they will not say,

‘If only this

had happened

yesterday

my loved ones

could rest easy

with thoughts

of a Nobel Peace Prize

and reassuring lies’

No, the flies

will still feast

as we point

our guns east

and we say

rest in peace

though we couldn’t

care less

as more die

like the rest

we care not

that they die

only care

that the guy

who will be commanding

the slaughter

cannot be trusted

with our daughter

and alligator tears

will fill the ocean

between the truth

and what

we’re spoon fed

on a screen

About soitgoes1984

I was born and raised on land stolen from the Pocumtuc. I now live on a small island in the middle of the Pacific ocean, on land that was stolen more recently, from the Hawaiians. I am addict, struggling to kick the habit of fossil fuel.
