Divide and Conquer

unite on the field

kneel down

let’s deal with this

don’t dismiss

I’ll back you up

strap up

your pads

helmet and mouth guard

new age bard

calling card

out of minutes

out of time

back of the bus

back of the line

I’ll back you up

I won’t stand

and salute

as long as they shoot

to kill

I won’t swallow these pills

won’t pledge blindly

won’t cry over spills

milk and cookies

kneel down rookie

and veteran alike

this is more than spilled milk

more Ali than Iron Mike

remember the Doctor

forget about Don

Malcolm X

marks the spot

and the ballgame is on

and our tax dollars paid

for these flags that we see

and they tell me I fought

so that we can be free

though I do not believe

for one second it’s true

here now I stand

in solidarity

with you

so don’t throw in the towel

don’t give up on this fight

more people will join

it’ll turn out alright.

About soitgoes1984

I was born and raised on land stolen from the Pocumtuc. I now live on a small island in the middle of the Pacific ocean, on land that was stolen more recently, from the Hawaiians. I am addict, struggling to kick the habit of fossil fuel. This work is licensed under a Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International License.
