Aloha Today…
Aloha Tomorrow…
Aloha Always…
and the sun’s rays
brighten my day
no more grey sky
happy I’m alive
no need 9-to-5
work from sunrise
until we drive
to the beach
for a sunset swim
hang our towels
on the limb
of the kiawe tree
never felt so free
scrub the red dirt
from our feet
and hands
as the sands of Papohaku blow
and the sun slowly dips
into the Pacific
with terrific colors
bouncing off clouds
and pink
melting together
over a blue canvas
making me think
maybe this is heaven
but the riptide
tugs my mind
back to reality
and I strain my eyes
trying to find
the green flash
on the horizon
but all I see
are endless miles
of beauty
as I make my way
back to the beach
and collapse into the sand
and day slowly begins
it’s transition
into night

About soitgoes1984

I was born and raised on land stolen from the Pocumtuc. I now live on a small island in the middle of the Pacific ocean, on land that was stolen more recently, from the Hawaiians. I am addict, struggling to kick the habit of fossil fuel. This work is licensed under a Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International License.
