pray

Barely alive

dive in

can’t win

bee hive

buzzing

getting too loud

flying through

these clouds

of chemicals

blinding me

drive away

noise is all

I hear

violence

all I see

what’s that

you say

as you pray

to your TV

imagine there’s

no God

and try hard

to believe

me

when I say

that all the prayers

you pray

fall on deaf ears

year after year

time to put down

the beer

and crawl

out of the pew

get up

off your knees

here’s what you

can do…

stop listening

to others

including me

but especially the news

the booze is used

to numb you

TV is used

to dumb you

down

the truth is lost

but I have found

that to sleep

soundly

your mind has to

be free

and then

you’ll wake up

to see

reality

About soitgoes1984

I was born and raised on land stolen from the Pocumtuc. I now live on a small island in the middle of the Pacific ocean, on land that was stolen more recently, from the Hawaiians. I am addict, struggling to kick the habit of fossil fuel.
