Love Poem #6

April 2013

If we were dolphins,

I’d love you,

I’d swim to you,

With you,

We’d laugh and play

And splash around

all night long

beneath the crescent moon

and the southern cross

you’d show me

how to love

I’d quit school

You’d become my teacher

My i-pod

You and me,

The happiest dolphins

Since ‘72

We’d make sweet

Dolphin love

All day long

All night long

Then we’d laugh and play

And splash

And put on a show

For the fishermen

Put on a show for Neptune

and Poseidon,

Then we’d save the lives

Of the refugees

After their sailboat capsized

Just south of the Keys,

Swim them to safety

Then ride the Gulf Stream home

To watch the sun set

On another beautiful day

With you,

The most beautiful dolphin

In all the ocean,

I’d swim to land and back

For you

I’ll swim fin in fin with you,

Until we evolve,

Grow legs

And I climb the highest mountain

To profess my love

for you

to all the world…

About soitgoes1984

I was born and raised on land stolen from the Pocumtuc. I now live on a small island in the middle of the Pacific ocean, on land that was stolen more recently, from the Hawaiians. I am addict, struggling to kick the habit of fossil fuel. This work is licensed under a Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International License.
