Kill Shot

October 2010

These tracks we follow north

as the crow flies overhead

the sky rains leaves from branches

swaying in the autumn breeze

orange

yellow

red

become copper brown death underfoot

covering these tracks

left seems right

east seems west

still following these tracks

to a buck drinking at a mountain stream.

He hears looks up sprints away sensing death

before dropping onto these tracks

with the first shot of the season.

About soitgoes1984

I was born and raised on land stolen from the Pocumtuc. I now live on a small island in the middle of the Pacific ocean, on land that was stolen more recently, from the Hawaiians. I am addict, struggling to kick the habit of fossil fuel.
